hey sorry to bring up an old post, especially as a first message.
However, I too am having the same problem. I've tried several TV's, and when sound effects are heard, or melodies, I hear a screeching sound. Very high pitched sound.
I tried searching the forum, but this is the only relevant result I could find. If anyone knows what should I look for, I'd be gratefull.
I don't even know what the OP found in Google, cause I found nothing.
Thanks in advance for any help,

hey CurlyMo!
Well It took me a while. Had to learn how to change the advancedsettings.xml.
Had to learn ssh,
creating and editing a file
and only after it all - I realized this is the wrong forum.
I have openelec, not xbian.
however, I decided to try it out anyway. Unfortunately it didn't work.
however - I did find a solution just in case anyone is interested:
it can be found here:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=19852
last reply on page 1.
works like a charm!
