A couple of tweaks I found when looking to improve the overall experience in XBMC:

- disable "Show RSS news feeds" in Settings>Appearance>Skin
- disable "Download actor thumbnails when adding to library" in Settings>Videos>Library
- disable "Extract thumbnail and video information" in Settings>Videos>File lists

MySQL-database:
- use the ip adres instead of server name
- disable "use dns lookup" in mysql settings

Any of you with other tweaks?

Setting System>Appearance->Fonts to Ariel gives a nice upper/lower case to the text (In confluence anyway)
(Hidden Panel) System>System>Input devices>Peripherals>CEC. Get control of what to turn off when RPi goes down etc. (Dunno if they work but....)

Where exactly do I disable the DNS Lookup? In the advancedsettings.xml?

I think in the my.cnf (or my.ini)

Can't find this file... where is it supposed to be?

/etc/mysql/my.cnf
c:\Program files\Mysql\my.ini

On my QNAP it was in the /etc directory itself.
