Just did a new install with a new SD card, using the Windows Installer 1.0a5. In the config, I selected Update, only the firmware had an update, but the log after updating showed nothing was updated.

Then I exited the config and updated XBMC like this (I expected it to update to 12.2):

Code:
xbian@xbian ~ $ sudo apt-get update
[sudo] password for xbian:

What does this mean??

update: xbmc 12.2 not supported anymore on 1.0a5 and beta1 is recommended instead of 1.0a5.
We dont support xbmc 12.2 for XBian 1.0 Alpha 5, update to XBian 1.0 Beta 1
?? Why do you say that? Check the homepage, http://www.xbian.org/2013/05/xbmc-frodo-12-2-released/

Team XBian released this update for xbian 1a5. The upgrade to 12.2 was smooth for everyone back in May. Beta 1 was not even released back then. I have 3 raspberries for different people running perfectly with that update.

Now I am installing an RPi for my parents so it must be the most stable version as possible. 1a5 id thouroughly tested, beta still has it's issues according to the test topic.
what problems you referring to???
we have been using and testing the Beta an following updates and there is nothing major.
Keep in mind that Alpha or Beta, they are still testing not stable releases!
or just wait for official Beta 1.1 image soon
as usual no ETA but it is going to be pushed soon Wink
I will definitely upgrade my own setup and join the testers coming week, but for the RPi I am currently installing, I prefer not to try something new, that's why I used 1.0a5 and once I have tried the beta myself I will create an image of my setup and upgrade all other RPi's.

But is there no way to upgrade an 1.0a5 install to xbmc 12.2 anymore?
No, XBMC 12.2 for Alpha 5 contained some libc issues (because the version of libc and the compile system were different). therefore we decided to drop support for XBMC 12.2 for Alpha 5.
Ok, but wasn't the beta retracted (teruggedraaid)? Or was that only the upgrade?

Only the update
Works perfectly for me! A lot of issues from the latest alpha version like occasional freezes are wiped off the map for me. I have all my seats (4) always showing up when I want to AirPlay. I had to ssh into it and restart the xbmc once in a while. But that issue is solved for me.
Ok thanks I was not fully up-to-date with recent developments. Will do clean install of beta1 and upgrade to 1.1 after.
Updated the first post.
