Hello, i have xbian on a raspberry pi but today i have a big problem.. i have some mkv file on my pc windows that i share on the network by shared folder of windows (samba).

from xbian i added the source and so i can see all files. i have about 40mkv files, 30 of these work perfeclty while some don't work (i click on the name but nothing happen.. no waiting message and nothing)

i tried the same files over a usb harddrive and work as a charm.

so what is the problem?

thanks
How is the source added? In files or in the movies library?
activate debugging mode, than try to play those movies from SMB shares and get the log file out straight after this attempt.
You find all information how to get the log and what information to post in my signature link

so and you saying that the other files from same location under same folder plays fine over SMB? if yes than I would guess this may have been somehow messed when you copied them into.so you may try to move them out and copy back to try if it helps

how you can see the problems files haven't everyone group.

why this happen? why some files have it and other not? what is the best strategy to use? give everyone at all or use an user/psw system to insert in raspberry pi (if possible)

well thats something we would not be able to answer(probably and more likely not) as this is an issue in your Windows machine.not sure why the files has a different share preferences.
You can try to set share options for the folder and all subfolders under with files included.this may work.
try it and post back

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310316

it is a windows problem and not only mine. Don't know if the hotfix explained there work in windows 8.1 Sad
