Was running openelc successfully on my Pi. Thought I would try xbian. Hmm - many hours later not even an install I
1. downloaded image installer and installed on a win 8 PC
2. downloaded and extracted the RC3 image.
3. Frmatted a Kingston sd 16 card as fat32. Wrote the image to the card. Seemed to write OK
4. stuck sd card in pi and turned on. Got the logo and "inst processing" or some such message. Ran like this for 30 secs or so then came up with a long error message and the rescue boot prompt:
5. wiped the drive and tried to write the image using dd in a linux PC.
6. Same thing - wrote OK then gave the same error message.
7. Opened the sd card and it has two partitions - sdd1 with the config flies and sdd2 (btrfs) with home/root/something else.
8. downloaded a new copy of RC3, extracted it and ran steps 1-8 again. Same problem. probably me doing something silly (no expert with pi or xbmc).
Sorry but had had to go back to openelec as I need my media centre!
If anyone has some advice for me, I'll try again in a day or so.
