Full Version: Running Samba crashes XBMC

Since my weekly update cycle on Monday (15.9.) I observe a weird phenomenon. After booting the system, XBMC will run for 2 minutes. Then XBMC will crash. The screen turn black and white and shows

-------

XBian GNU/Linus 7 eh-xbian tty1

ex-xbian login: Rather than launching init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8) utility, e.g. service S01dbus start

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has ben converted to an Upstart job, you may also use the start utility, e.g. start dbus
[ok] Starting daemon: nmbd

-------

Hitting return brings me then to the login prompt. I.e. it looks to my that the parent process of the xbmc user crashes.

I took the messages as a hint that Samba may by the culprit.

When I use the 2 minutes I have, to ssh into the machine and stop samba, the system runs stably.

-------

uname -a
Linux eh-xbian 3.12.26+ #3 PREEMPT Sat Aug 9 07:21:11 CEST 2014 armv6l GNU/Linu

RasPI: B (512 MB)
XBMC 13.2
XBian version: 1.0RC3

I have not yet found a meaningful log to attach.

Can you guys try the XBian RC3 image of three days ago.
xmbc -> Settings -> System Information says I am running xbian 1.0RC3.

Do you still suggest that I download a fresh image and try that?
Yes
Hi,

after a fresh install (XBian RC3) everything seems to work - maybe something was screwed after all the updates...

btw: the image is quite up to date! thanks for that!
