Full Version: Not getting past boot after installing Alpha5

Hey,

Since I want to be an "advanced user" too I decided to try out Alpha5 by installing it manually. I've read and executed every step as described here

Everything seemed to be going well, no errors and all the commands were executed. After following every step I rebooted my pi, everything seems to be going well but after a while pretty much nothing happens.

Terminal

!important notice!
rpi-update breaks corse features of xbian, use it at your own risk

root@raspberrypi:~#
After that nothing happens.

I've checked the installed packages in xbian-config and tried updating, whenever I try updating it tells me that the package is currently unavailable.

Also, i've tried re-adding the apt sources and updating, however that now causes an error:
Terminal

root@raspberrypi:/home/xbian# apt-get updates
E: Syntax error /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10AptTimeout:2: Extra junk at end of file
Btw, shouldn't it say root@xbian instead of @raspberrypi?Blush
I've tried pretty much everything with my limited knowledge. I've also gone through the whole process again starting with an empty SD card but unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance Blush
How did you install Alpha5?
Woops, I forgot to add the hyperlink... I used this: https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbian/blob/xbian-alpha5/Docs/Setup.MD
We officially don't give any support on people who use GIT to get prerelease versions and stuff, mostly because of time issues.
You'd better install alpha 4 and use this to upgrade the kernel, XBMC and firmware: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-211.html
