A friend handed me an "android box" last night that is marked with "MX" on the top of the plastic case.
are there any identifying marks/codes on the mobo that would indicate it will run with the imx6 version of xbian? it looks like the SoC/processor has a heatsink attached that I'm reluctant to remove

Forget it. If it's an imx6 processor, it's not worth the effort as Kodi support for the SOC has been discontinued for years and the mainstream isn't usable either. I was annoyed with this a year ago and then gave up.
