Figured I'd share this.

Got an RPi to turn into an XBMC box. Was running pretty close to broke at the time, and couldn't afford to get the wifi adapter. Had a spare one that my mom (The Garage Sale Queen) gave me, so I figured it'd work. (As with most posts of this nature, please excuse the poor picture quality; didn't want to unplug it, and it's in a hard to reach location).

Tried a couple of distros before Xbian, but neither supported my adapter and would have required a full-on build from source. "Ain't nobody got time for that!" Big Grin

Of course, it didn't work out-of-the-gate with Xbian either, but at least with Xbian I had the option of actually making changes to the system to get it to work:

1. SSH'd in, ran lsusb to find out what the system thought of it:
[pre]Bus 001 Device 004: ID 5041:2235 Linksys (?) WUSB54GP v1 802.11g Adapter [Intersil ISL3886][/pre]

2. Figuring the "ISL3886" was the chipset, Googled it and came up with the instructions here: [url]http://wiki.debian.org/prism54#p54usb{/url]

Been working quite well! Only issue I've been running into is it not reconnecting when my router decides to reboot under heavy load, but I figure that's: A.) more my craptastic router's fault for rebooting, and B.) an issue for another day.
