RE: Upgrading to Jessie
Are you upgrading Rpi1 or Rpi2?
If Rpi 1 then all I can say is to do what I said. If Rpi2 then don't do anything just yet! |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
On RPi1 I have....
Terminal deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt stable main rpi-jessie deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt staging main rpi-jessie deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt devel main rpi-jessie I can't get RPi2 as it I took the card and flashed back to a working Wheezy install. BTRFS never seems to work for me! |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
My sources list on RPI2 and 20150919-1 is
Terminal deb http://http.debian.net/debian stable main non-free and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/xbian.list Terminal deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt stable main rpi2-jessie ### deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt staging main rpi2-jessie ### deb mirror://apt.xbian.org/mirror.txt devel main rpi2-jessie Is that correct or am I missing something ? |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
When i try to update xbian i see this error:
root@xbian:/home/xbian# apt-get upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libcec3 : Conflicts: libcec2 E: Broken packages |

I started with an apt-get upgrade, which will hold back quite a few packages. After that you can apt-get install [packagename] for the individual remaining packages. Each apt-get install will pull in new dependencies which can also resolve other conflicts (I remember gcc-4.9 being a main one), so you will not literally need to install each package individually. Because of this, I also ran apt-get upgrade after each apt-get install. I kept the xbian-update for last, although that was mostly because I just installed the packages in alphabetical order. I confirm the libcec3 conflict mentioned above, although that doesn't seem to break anything. In any case, I would suggest to create a raw copy of your SD just to be sure. |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
IME upgrading pi 1 is OK. Not pi 2 if you have I2S DAC attached. That's been broken for several weeks now.
Hope this might save you some time and frustration! |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
20 days ago I updated/upgraded my two Pis (the 512 MB model).
As I used only one up to now, I did not realize, that the other one is just "dead". I mean, there is no picture coming and I cannot log-in into it per Putty. Can you tell me some steps I could do now to resolve the situation, without just installing everything new? I guess, I could take the SD card into my laptop and check the files, but what actually to check/do? |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
1. Try swapping power supplies (and power cables) between the two pi's and see if that makes any difference.
2. Remove the card from the working pi and try it in the non-working pi. 3. Copy 'good pi' card to PC and then clone to HDD, then write 'good pi' image to 'bad pi' card. Test 'bad pi' card on 'good pi'. This will eliminate a bad SD card. 4. If you suspect the 'bad pi' SD card, run a full test on it with h2testw (download from web). 5. If you suspect power supply or cable, replace with new. 6. If it is just a corrupted card, write the 'good pi' from step 3 above image to the 'bad pi' card, unplug the 'good pi' from the network, log into the bad pi with the cloned card and change name, IP etc. REboot and if all is well, reconnect the good pi back to the network. Skywatch. |

RE: Upgrading to Jessie
Sorry, but this is no hardware issue. I interchanged the
cards and the Pi was working. I am pretty sure, the installation got fucked up, as this is now the fourth time happening during the past two years. Nothing against Xbian, just stating. Alright, can you tell me, how to copy/clone "good pi" content to "bad pi" card? Tutorial? Easy steps? |

We are using a device as a media center that was never intended for it. Tell yourself 4 years ago that you are going to run a media center of your camera's SD card and you probably would think you're crazy. Eithe way: 1. Make backups, or 2. Put your configuration on a NAS and symlink towards it, I'm using the latter so i can have my system up and running in no-time. pilight - modular domotica solution
