Is it that difficult? My apologies. I'm running on Beta 2. The external hard drive is a 1TB WD Passport formatted to exFAT. My Xbian install is fairly new (installed this morning). I have it running of a USB flash drive with the SD. The external drive is recognized when I plug it into my windows 8 computer, but when I plug it into the pi it doesn't mount. How to reproduce: RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - IriDium - 20th Dec, 2013 06:10 AM Ok, thanks, now we have the information. 1) How is the HDD powered? It will need a powered HUB to function. It CANNOT be powered from the RPi. 2) Please supply the output from dmesg 3) How did you install Xbian onto the USB? Where do I find this? I didn't see any instructions in the read before you post section. 3. I installed Xbian on the USB drive through option 6 in Xbian.config RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - Lilone21804 - 23rd Dec, 2013 06:07 AM (20th Dec, 2013 07:29 AM)Lilone21804 Wrote:(20th Dec, 2013 06:10 AM)IriDium Wrote: Ok, thanks, now we have the information. Still having the same issues. The hard drive was able to mount once. When I restarted it, it went away and won't mount again. I have it set to a static location using the method from this guide. http://pastebin.com/c0eRYidH RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - mk01 - 23rd Dec, 2013 08:57 AM @Lilone21804 can you with attached hdd post outputs of: Code: sudo -i RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - Lilone21804 - 23rd Dec, 2013 09:16 AM (23rd Dec, 2013 08:57 AM)mk01 Wrote: @Lilone21804 Thanks for the help The log for the dmesg: http://pastebin.com/zDr3xXQR The log for the blkid: http://pastebin.com/ShGFw46S The log for the cat /etc/fstab: http://pastebin.com/J89qK00M RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - mk01 - 23rd Dec, 2013 10:00 AM all is correct there. we can try loggin usbmount process. edit /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf, set VERBOSE=1 then reattach disk. log will appear after a while in /var/log/user.log RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - Lilone21804 - 23rd Dec, 2013 08:15 PM (23rd Dec, 2013 10:00 AM)mk01 Wrote: all is correct there. we can try loggin usbmount process. edit /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf, set VERBOSE=1 When I enter "edit/etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf" I get the error message: sudo edit /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf [sudo] password for xbian: Warning: unknown mime-type for "/etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf" -- using "application/octet-stream" Error: no "edit" mailcap rules found for type "application/octet-stream" RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - mk01 - 23rd Dec, 2013 11:48 PM edit wasn't command, just I was asking you to edit the file you can with Code: sudo nano /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf RE: USB Harddrive Not Mounting - Lilone21804 - 24th Dec, 2013 01:35 AM (23rd Dec, 2013 11:48 PM)mk01 Wrote: edit wasn't command, just I was asking you to edit the file Lol got you. Do you have a spare that you could try? What is the amperage of your RPi power supply? You could try removing the HUB and plugging your KB and WD directly into the RPi – it might work just for testing. |
