1080p MKV without hardware audio? - rendez2k - 2nd Jul, 2013 07:07 PM Hi all, using beta 1, I can happily stream 1080p video from my NAS and it works great. But, I'm using a DTS & AC3 receiver. Without that hardware decoding, would my Pi be able to handle full 1080p? If not, would 720p work? Many thanks! RE: 1080p MKV without hardware audio? - mk01 - 2nd Jul, 2013 07:14 PM best you can do is run the mkv through ffmpeg and add addition "stereo" audio track. the video and original audio will be untouched and rpi will choose the native stereo track without need to online transcode. it will take 1-2 mins. and you can enjoy the full 1080. this is how I'm doing. RE: 1080p MKV without hardware audio? - IriDium - 2nd Jul, 2013 07:21 PM If your TV can handle DTS and AC3 then it will be hardware decoded through the TV - just make sure you have set System -> Audio DTS & AC3 receiver. Xbian Alpha5 handles 720p DTS without hardware decoding - sometimes 1080p depending on the file. I use Popcord MKV converter to convert DTS to AC3 as my TV only decodes AC3 |
