just to report, as I changed few non-relevant things for beta2 a reinstalled three packages (usbmount, xbmc, kernel-headers) started xbmc and voila usb keyboard working ???

in between I changed no kernel / no xbmc / no libs / no updates from debian.

I changed xbmc startup script, but hard to believe this would be causing such bug.

Yep also here, no usb keyboard / no touchscreen, both via usb.

RE: XBMC 12.2 improvements & Linux 3.10 - mk01 - 1st Aug, 2013 07:11 PM

maybe it's the new version Koen posted on July 29th and can be, I didn't check the keyboard until now.

can someone install it ? http://ivka57.dyndns-ip.com/pool/main/x/xbian-package-xbmc/xbian-package-xbmc_2.3-1.3_armhf.deb

unfortunately, the limited movie option during play (only zoom was available to RPI) gone even more limited and zoom is not there. so who was using it (as myself) should be prepared.

It may be worthwhile to others to accept the default "N" to proceed.

for the new xbmc which is part of beta2 new options to xbmc config file have been introduced - dynamic priority of xbmc process based on it's state and possibility to turn off tv with/after xbmc screensaver is activated.

those won't work until other packages from beta2 release are installed, but you should check the /etc/default/xbmc.dpkg-new and possibly migrate the new options to your old config file.

New install from fresh Beta 1.1

Has someone mucked about with the install instructions?

It requests xbiantestmirror but then trys and runs the 'old' installTestMirror.sh.

Just
Code:
chmod +x xbiantestmirror
./xbiantestmirror

Rebooted.
Logitech K400 universal receiver KB & Mouse do not work.
Std USB KB does not work.

This is in XBMC.
<Cnl> <Alt> <Del> works within XBMC
KB works in terminal.

XBMC 12.2 improvements & Linux 3.10.
However, I can't test the functions of XBMC if the keyboard does not work.
The kernel recognizes the keyboard but XBMC does not.

are those git packages? so beta2?

RE: XBMC 12.2 improvements & Linux 3.10 - IriDium - 6th Aug, 2013 03:59 AM

Well it's not beta 2 - cos it doesn't work :-)

I've no idea what the git is but it was earlier than Beta 2.

I've given up with this as there is no movements nor updates, so I'm concentrating on testing beta2.

RE: XBMC 12.2 improvements & Linux 3.10 - tehnatural - 6th Aug, 2013 07:27 AM

Is there a way to get a newer version of the kernel to work (after july 20th)? I would really like to get boblight-dispmanx to work with xbian and have been, for quite some time, stuck with raspbmc because of this.

Have you asked previously that the modules be included in the Xbian kernel.

No, I haven't. I'm not sure what it would entail but I know everytime I tried rpi-update through hexxeh's github it causes xbian to fail at boot.

Because the kernel is incompatible, is this an XBMC plugin that doesn't function or the hardware has no 'driver'?

It's an XBMC plugin (just like boblight but a version for the RPi). It uses dispmanx to 'grab' an area of the screen so that boblight-rpi can work and send the color information to the LED's. It requires a newer version of the rpi-kernel July 2 2013 or later for this to work.
