RE: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 1.1 thread - dmgmit - 20th Jul, 2013 02:12 AM

I need to back to Alpha 5 xbmc 12.2 (it's fine for me) because beta 1.1 is a little unstable with nfs and wifi DWA-140.
Not problem to install Alpha 5 xbmc 12.1 but when I install 12.2 also installed xbian 1 beta 1.1
How do I proceed to install xbmc 12.2 with xbian alpha 5?
Thanks

I think you could try to update it manually from the github repo. So install A5 and try the commands at the bottom.

@kaladont
Perhaps mk01 as a developer will have another idea.
If you don't want to wait, I would recommend a clean new installation with a fresh image:
http://www.xbian.org/download/

If you want to create an image from your current installation, this nice little tool will help you. You can also write the new xbian image to your sd card with it:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

I am already on backup :-)
The thing is I have so many things configured and I do not want to do it from the scratch. I will wait a little bit..

so you RPI never gets proper date ?

Yes, sir.

mk01,

One more thing besides auto-time.

I've installed OpenVPN server on rpi using this tutorial (http://www.raspberrypihelp.net/index.php/tutorials/1-openvpn-server-tutorial) with some tweaks to config files - like 2048 bit certificates, more security etc.

After reboot which is a little bit longer than it was I am not able to connect using SSH.

I tried to exit from xbmc and I can't get into log-in screen. I just see messages from boot (?)
Starting CUPS (OK)
Starting DNSMASQ (OK)
Starting ETH0 (OK)
Starting CRON (OK)
Staring USB IR deamon (OK)
Staring Openswan IPsec (list of errors)
Starting LIRC (OK)

End of messages

Ctrl+Alt+Del reboots system.

I will have to re-install system, do not see any possibility to get into console.

I think there is something wrong with either L2TP packages or with xBian. Again on a5 worked without any problem.

Unfortunately I have to have both L2TP and OpenVPN for my clients.

Will appreciate any help

Hi,
I tried a fresh install of the Beta 1.1 and following are the issues which I face. Could some help me out
1. USB drives are not getting automatically detected. In Alpha 1.5 I used to get a pop up window saying my hdd is mounted. now thats missing and I have to add it from the browse and add folder option.
2. "service xbmc restart" is not working correctly
Code:
root@xbian:~# service xbmc restart
xbmc start/running, process 699
root@xbian:~#
root@xbian:~# service xbmc status
xbmc stop/waiting
root@xbian:~#
3. After stopping and starting the xbmc service, CEC remote is not functioning. [TV is LGLD650)

All the above were working correctly in Alpha release. Please let me know what all the log files which you require inorder to address the issue.

Hi

thansk for the new update! but I have issues.
1st. I tried an update from a05 tot b1.1.
because of issues, like hanging and becoming unresponsive. I did
2nd clean install of b1.1

I have again the same issue as afer the upgrade. So after the upgrade and clean install, I scanned my movie repository and was able to start a movie .
Now after a reboot. I see xbmc appaering, i can hop around for seconds in the interface. and then it xbmc hangs. sending a Pingi is possible. No ssh.

playing around shows, that if I go directly to the status screen showing the memory available. it is counting down until 11 mb free, then the system hangs.
I can avoid this by unplugging the eth cable when booting. If I then connect the lan cable when the system is up and running, this does not happen.

but basically, when trying to start movies, the system will hang.

any ideas?

I have the 512Mb pi.

thnaks!

It sounds like your overclock may not be stable, or your running some USB accessory. Lower the overclock or unplug all accessories.

solved, issue was caused by a bad movie file, I removed it, now i looks okay!

Beta 1,1 Fresh install from xbian installer.

Mounting a USB drive, the device shows up in ssh df -h and in system->Info, however it is not shown in Videos, Music Pictures etc. It can be added via Add->Source but should be automounted.

The drive is mounted as /dev/sda1 466G 400G 67G 86% /media/Movies2-9A808EA0808E828D

I though this was fixed in earlier releases of Beta.
