Not that it matters as one of my drives is NTFS and the other is fat32 but what filesystems are you using? Linux based?

NTFS and FAT32
Drives tried.
NTFS - IDE drive enclosure
NTFS - SATA drive enclosure
NTFS - SATA USB3 drive enclosure
FAT32 - USB Stick

Same drives as used in Alpha5.

They can be added in Add Source but I'm sure they should be hot pluggable. (Also runs the risk of different drive mounting point should one be removed)

They are, you should see the drives under Videos without needing to add source. Something is wrong if you can't.

I know it should work :-) It's worrying as no one else has mentioned it as a problem.
It was working on one of MK01 development runs, but which one, I'm not too sure.
Oh well. Good job I rely on smb instead of USB. I'm away for a couple of weeks so probably won't be able to test much now.

Someone else will surely verify or debunk your issue. Debunk meaning verify it's localized to your setup.

I don't have this issue and am very curious as to the cause.

I'm curious too..... Too many wasted :-) hours on it.
The only things that are common between the two RPi are the USB disk drives.
As I've tried 4 different ones without success, it doesn't seem to be hardware related, but I never discount anything.

When you say it's working, that's on a mk01 build, not a fresh Beta 1.1 install? Correct?

It's on github #429

Can someone install a fresh Beta 1.1 and check to see if a USB drive appears in Videos and Music.

Re: Official XBian 1.0 Beta 1.1 thread - f1vefour - 27th Jul, 2013 02:19 AM

Correct, I'm on mk01's development branch. You stated it wouldn't work for you even on this build so I'm thinking it may actually be hardware related.

If no one steps forward I will find another SD, fresh install beta1.1 and give it a go.

Have you tried a flash drive? I'm pretty sure the lsusb showed one of your drives to be flash based.

Yep one was a flash drive.

Any way you could post an IMG of your current setup so I could try that? If that fails, then it has to be HW.

I can verify this issue exist on a fresh Beta 1.1 install. When you plug-in an USB HDD it gets mounted OK, but it will not appear automatic in XBMC Video and Music.
(This was working on the Xbian 1.0 A5.)

@Davem
Many thanks for that. Looks like it is an issue and not just my setup.

I have a problem that i had before. Here is thread. After upgrade i have this problem again. I've checked that line is present in my /boot/config.txt
Thank you for the help!

as this is really specific to your HW setup you would need to find the right settings. Im cant see how would update/upgrade to Beta affect this as it shouldnt. Maybe only RPi firmware or kernel ??? not sure.
Try to change the value of
Code:
hdmi_pixel_encoding=
from 1 to 2 which is full RGB.

Thank you! 2 is my value. What values are valid? Is there auto-detect value? May be it will work for b1.1

if you remove the line than it will set Auto. But only if CEC detect the right data/info. If no than you have to force the settings by adding appropriate lines into config.txt

All you need can be found

Does anyone run MLBMC (MLB.TV add-on) on this build? After a fresh install it worked perfectly, but after a reboot, it stalls after taking forever to load. It's been sitting at the "opening stream" window for going on 10 minutes now...
