Surround Sound won't work on Xbian on PI - marke08 - 16th Sep, 2013 11:13 AM HI all, i have Xbian installed on a raspberry pi. Running version 1.0 and it is connected to a Pioneer VSX-1121-K through HDMI. I have enabled the 5.1 option from settings and attempted to play a movie over the home network that is 5.1. Can anyone provide me with any tips? I realize this post is probably extremely short on info to help troubleshoot so if you can tell me what you need i will provide it. Thanks RE: Surround Sound won't work on Xbian on PI - mk01 - 16th Sep, 2013 12:12 PM two things I check first always 1) more audio tracks - first stereo - second 5.1 - xbmc should switch to 5.1 automatically, but you never knows 2) the 5.1 audio is AAC. RPI has no online transcoding from AAC to AC3(as all other platforms of XBMC including AppleTV). so it's 5.1, but RPI is down mixing to stereo. (there is almost none HW supporting AAC passthrough - that's why support is rare - I have not seen).
