Problem with edimax wifi adapter - kaz - 23rd Feb, 2014 11:56 AM Hi, i am using xbian 1.0 beta 2 and an edimax ew-7811un wifi adapter - If i am using the Network Manager Addon, i cannot see any available Wifi Hotspot, but why? - If i am using the built-in xbian-config i can see available - just 2 Hotspots but i cannot connect if i am entered the right WPA2/PSK key. here i can also ask "but why?" ^^ The second question is, where i can change the encryption type in xbian? If ur need some more information about my system pls ask Many thanks for ur help RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - kaz - 24th Feb, 2014 01:44 AM an nobody help me here please? :\ RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - IriDium - 25th Feb, 2014 03:14 AM You waited a grand total of two hours before reposting. You'll have to wait a lot longer than that now. RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - kaz - 26th Feb, 2014 03:42 AM Sry but i 've been waiting for 14 hours. sry about that :\ RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - CurlyMo - 26th Feb, 2014 08:20 AM Did you know the experts here also give paid support. I can for sure fix your problem for $60 a hour. Or maybe you should just be patient and realize you are using a free product that some people (like me) spend a massive amount of hour on. RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - kaz - 26th Feb, 2014 08:57 AM ok, i will just enjoy the free support and be patient RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - IriDium - 27th Feb, 2014 02:38 AM 1) Make sure the adaptor is working - test it on another machine. 2) Make sure the adaptor is in a powered Hub - they can use more than 100ma 3) Network manager is not required - and fails in RC1 4) Check that the adaptor has been recognised - run dmesg|grep WLAN 5) Use the SSH xbian-config - it has always worked for me. 6) You don't need to change the encryption type. 7) That's $60 8) Be patient. My betting is on the adaptor not working, or not enough power to it. RE: Problem with edimax wifi adapter - kaz - 27th Feb, 2014 05:37 AM Have solved the probolem by changing the AP settings from Mixed mode /b/g/n to only n or g for example. Now it works.. but dont understand why... but still strange. :\ however Thanks for ur help and patience |
