How to enable log files (eg. /var/log/auth.log)? - psyLord - 30th Oct, 2014 03:50 AM Hi, I'm using RC3 and I can't find the log files, like /var/log/auth.log. If I remember correctly, logging was enabled in RC2 by default. How do I can enable it again? Is 'sysklogd' the right choice? I would like to have an eye on all the login attempts, and want to use fail2ban also. I appreciate your help. Cheers, psyLord RE: How to enable log files (eg. /var/log/auth.log)? - psyLord - 7th Nov, 2014 03:16 AM Does no-one has an answer to this? RE: How to enable log files (eg. /var/log/auth.log)? - f1vefour - 7th Nov, 2014 10:14 AM Personally I would install rsyslog since it is so feature rich and you're interested in logging. RE: How to enable log files (eg. /var/log/auth.log)? - psyLord - 8th Nov, 2014 03:47 AM Thanks a lot! It works. Now I can see again all those failed login attempts by those bots out there and can ban them. I hope no-one will come through.
