Sound amplifier problem - ocbgold - 11th Mar, 2015 11:00 PM

Hi I am having trouble with the sound on the media center and would like some help please. I have over 1000 movies downloaded from "YIFY" and it is a known problem that these movies have low sound.

I´m trying to use the amplifier that Kodi has but the specific problem is that even once I have adjusted the sound in the amplifier, 2 or 3 minutes later in the film, the sound goes very quiet again. So I adjust it again and another 2 minutes later it reverts to very quiet again and so on...

I rewind by 30 seconds then immediately fast-forward by 30 seconds and this solves the prob temporarily but then it goes back to quiet.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, do you have any suggestions..?

Im using RCA cable because I dont have HDMI on that TV, my version is XBian_2015.03.07_rpi2.img.

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

This is my audio settings:

Watching a video:

Volume 0.0dB
Volume amplification 25.0dB
Audio offset 0.000s
Audio stream Undetermined - Stereo (1/1)
Enable Stereo upmix Disable
Enable passthrough Disable
Enable subtitles Enable
Subtitle offset 0.000s

In Volume amplification I tried starting the movie with 0.00dB and 25.0dB as default ---- Same problem

Video output:

Audio output device Analogue
Number of channels 2.0
Keep audio device alive 1 minute
Play GUI sounds only when playback stopped

In Audio output device I also tried with HDMI even Im not using HDMI --- Same problem.
In keep audio device alive I tried with always and off ----------------------- Same problem.

If you need more details from the audio settings just say it and how to get it and I´ll post it.

Thank you in advance!

OK
I have tested analog out on mine RPi2 with latest stable XBian build and all is OK as it should

what is your HW? what version of RPi? did you try update so you have the latest stable build?

Hi, thank you for your interest! Im using a RP2 with XBian KODI (14.2-BETA2 Git:Unknown) (Compiled 6 Mar 2015) for RP2. I have updated minor updates today (I was using XBian_2015.03.07_rpi2.img), but I continue having the same issue.

My power supply is 5v-2A, RP2 is connected to the tv with RCA cable. When Im watching movies I only have plugged a xbox 360 wireless controller and a 3TB HDD (which uses his own power adapter).

I have used the Kodi Log Uploader as you have in your tutorial, one log is complete and another just with the audio component. I reproduced the issue and it continues having it.

Complete:

Audio Component:

Hope it helps.

P.S I had the same issue with older versions of XBian_2015.02.28_rpi2.img

Thank You in advance.

Looks like someone else has the same or similar issue.

If so, it's possibly the RPi and not XBian.

Hi! Thank you both for answering and trying to help me.

I have the issue in every video file. It is common to all. The only thing is it´s more obvious with YIFY torrent movies because the sound is very low. So I need the amplifier to be able to hear them properly, but as I said it happens with every file.
In files from different uploaders, the sound is good and I don´t need to adjust the amplifier. The same problem happens, but as the sound is adequate I don´t need to move the amplifier - it´s only with YIFY that it´s an issue.

You mentioned that it´s possible that it´s the RPi2. Do you think that the device is defective or this is a common flaw with all Raspberries? Just in case I need to return it and get a new one.

Thank you again for trying to help me.

as I mentioned, my device is okay, no issues at all
I have RPi2 as well
please, try different OS, like Raspbian or Openelec. if you find it there too than your problem rely in hardware, otherwise we may investigate further
