rpi - xbmc service stops - stevewalsh - 29th Sep, 2015 06:27 AM

Please can you help ?
All was going well for nearly 1 year and now it's stopped working...

Everything starts fine, gui starts up and I can start using it, but after about a minute, I'm back to the command prompt.
Via SSH, the XMBC service is not started (it's set to autostart and obviously does start after a reboot, hence it all looks good for a minute.

Looking at logs, the only errors I can find is in /var/log/upstart/cgmanager.log

The errors are :
[i]initctl: invalid command: notify-cgroup-manager-address^M
Try `initctl --help' for more information.^M
initctl: invalid command: notify-cgroup-manager-address^M
Try `initctl --help' for more information.^M
cgmanager: could not open cgroup file for 1910^M
cgmanager: Found no cgroup entry for pid 1910 controller cpuacct^M
^M
cgmanager:per_ctrl_move_pid_main: Could not determine the requestor's cgroup for cpuacct^M
cgmanager: could not open cgroup file for 1910^M
cgmanager: Found no cgroup entry for pid 1910 controller devices^M

Does any of this mean anything to anyone ?
I'd rather not have to start again with a fresh install...

If there's any other info you need, I'm more than happy to provide it.

Thanks in advance, Steve

Well, after more searching and log hunting...
I found these errors :

ERROR: CecLogMessage - Open - vc_cec could not be initialised
ERROR: CecLogMessage - could not open a connection (try 5)
ERROR: CecLogMessage - RegisterLogicalAddress - vc_cec_set_logical_address(E)

And then a trawl of the internet found this post :
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=217450&pid=1916805#pid1916805

hdmi_force_hotplug=1

in config.txt

Problem solved...

Alas, 2 days later and the problem is back... config.txt still contains the string above...

Watch this space for more info... (and another solution ?)

Sounds like an add-on problem or "something" else has been installed
