Green network LED constantly flashing! - Skywatch - 30th Mar, 2016 07:47 PM

HI,

I have tried to find the cause of this but no luck so far.

Using Rpi2 with pifi digi and the latest xbian (staging) and the network port green LED is flashing all the time.

Anyone have any idea on how to track down the culprit and solve this please?

Seems you always have traffic over the LAN

This is odd.

It seems to be talking to the 2 nas servers boxes. If I unplug the nas from the switch it stops. But when I comment out both nas mounts in fstab, then reboot, it still has the network traffic going constantly... WTF?

Maybe Kodi is boring and always looking for new stuff on the NAS Tongue

Maybe it's those damned ghosts again? Sad

Anyway, I guess that without the mounts in fstab I can rule out it being cifs/smb traffic. I even rebooted the nases to see if that would do it, but it didn't.

Could the kodi watchdog be doing all this?

Can I install wireshark on xbian?

Don't know what kodi watchdog does. Simple stop Kodi an see what network LED does

Sure. But you have to run it remotely, because no X server is running locally

OK my suspicion was right, it was kodi addon 'watchdog' that was generating constant traffic. I disabled that in the system -> addons section and all is back to normal.

One more mystery solved, onto some more now! Wink
