Widevine 64 bit? - walt - 20th May, 2024 05:43 PM

Hi again,

After having sorted out the 'no analogue audio output' on my RPi 4B (http://forum.xbian.org/thread-4182.html), I ran into trouble getting Widevine to work. I've searched the web and have the impression that a 64 bit Widevine version now exists (https://github.com/raspberrypi/Raspberry-Pi-OS-64bit/issues/248), but couldn't get it to work with XBian's Kodi (for the 'VRT MAX' add-on). Is it possible to do that?

Thanks in advance!

Software
XBian version: XBian 12.0 - Bookworm (kernel: Linux 6.6.25-64+ aarch64)
XBian image used: XBian_2024.04.19_arm64_rpi5.img.gz
XBMC/Kodi version: Kodi (21.0 (21.0.0) Git:20240406-789c8109a6-dirty). Platform: Linux ARM 64-bit
Overclock settings: None

Hardware
Device type and model: Raspberry Pi Model 4B 8Gb
Power supply rating: Raspberry Pi Official USB-C Power Supply
SD card size and make/type: Transcend 32Gb class 10
Network (Ethernet or wireless): Ethernet

Problem description:
When attempting to play live TV with the 'VRT MAX' add-on, the Widevine installation appears to be successful, but then a 'Playback failed' error message pops up.

How to reproduce:
- Install the aforementioned XBian version on the RPi 4B
- Install the 'VRT MAX' add-on
- In that add-on, go to 'Live TV', then 'VRT 1 live'

Sorry for the late response

The Widevine implementation for Raspberry Pi is not available for 64-Bit installations

Absolutely no need to apologise, Nachteule, and thank you for confirming this. Meanwhile I've found a workaround: I'm staying with 32 bit and have plugged in a simple USB soundcard. It was recognised immediately, problem solved (or at least easily worked around Smile)!

Another option would be to add the 32-bit architecture to the 64-bit installation and then install the 32-bit Kodi.
Should work, but I don't think I've tested it that way
