avoiding sleep mode - alejandrovk - 12th Feb, 2013 12:37 AM

Hi there!

Anybody knows how to disable sleep mode? I'm asking because if my RPi goes to sleep it never "wakes up", unless a do a hard reboot, which I really don't like.

Thanks!
Alex

avoiding sleep mode - Koenkk - 12th Feb, 2013 12:38 AM

Do you mean the dimmed xbmc screensaver?

Re: avoiding sleep mode - rikardo1979 - 12th Feb, 2013 12:49 AM

just change screenserver and also CEC settings to disable it

RE: avoiding sleep mode - alejandrovk - 12th Feb, 2013 06:36 PM

Hello Rikardo,

Not really sure but if I leave Xbian for a long time and try to come back again (through my TV), no matter what kind of input I use (mouse, keyboard) it won't wake. I then only have two options, ssh'in and reboot or hot unplug & plug. Thus, I suspect this is because it is going to sleep mode and not being able to wake up, and I want to disable that.

Regards,
Alex

it wasn't an real issue as you can see the last report of the user above so there wasn't anything to fix.
However if you feel that there is one please read my posts above to try to fix it and also my post above where I asked for logs etc, so same apply to you Wink

RE: avoiding sleep mode - Kevf - 1st Jun, 2013 10:26 PM

You're right, I was to quick to reply.

Using SSH I have now enabled

: HDMI ignore CEC init
: HDMI disable CEC

Hope this helps!

RE: avoiding sleep mode - Kevf - 3rd Jun, 2013 05:13 PM

It didn't work. This morning I switched on the the pi but I couldn't connect using Yatze. After that I switched on the tv: no screen.

I rebooted the pi by reconnecting it and after that it worked fine. I enabeld debugging, I turned off the tv again and switched off the pi with Yatze.

Than I turned on the the pi again, but this time I can connect with Yatze (with the tv off), but when I turn on the tv: no screen Sad

I can't help but think that it's somewhere in the cec settings/passtrough of my receiver.

The log didn't say anything unusual. But using the command in the link only gives you a part of the logging right?

logging after start-up (I know for sure it was different the first time)

RE: avoiding sleep mode - Kevf - 4th Jun, 2013 07:36 PM

Today I tried switching of HDMI control on the receiver but no luck. I came up with the idea to directly connect the hdmi cable to my plasma. But still a black screen. I can connect through windows explorer (network) and with putty. Yatze doesn't connect.

Most of the log is filled with directory/library errors, except for the first part:

edit: extra info: I don't have the cec package installed. So how come that in the log a new cec device is registered?

I was thinking of maybe enabling HDMI hotplug, thoughts?

And another strange thing: I've got a 1080p hd tv, that doesn't corresponds with the resolution in the logging.

RE: avoiding sleep mode - Kevf - 13th Jun, 2013 12:49 AM

no one?

Re: avoiding sleep mode - rikardo1979 - 13th Jun, 2013 02:01 AM

libcec is in by default so im not sure what have you messed with tbh Wink
My best recommendation for you is to start from scratch as it would be much easier

RE: avoiding sleep mode - Isabel - 19th Jun, 2013 04:19 AM

Thanks for this idea i never knew it was in screen saver's settings, anyway now I can disable this. Actually i want to have this active all time because some of my apps run all the time.

RE: avoiding sleep mode - zilexa - 19th Jun, 2013 07:28 PM

Hmm I might have a similar issue: when I am long away from the RPi (TV is off) and I turn the tv back on, the XBMC screen is dimmed. There is no screensaver, it's just the XBMC UI but its dimmed. I can do everything, everything still works.

But to get out of this dimmed screen mode, I need to play a video, then stop the video. Now my screen is correctly lit again.

I use CEC since I use my tv remote so I do not want to disable it. How to fix this?
