TV does not boot raspPI (Alpha5) - kaladont - 24th Feb, 2013 10:35 AM

Hi,

can anyone boot raspPI by turning on TV?
I can shutdown raspPI when turning off TV.
I can shutdown TV from raspberry PI by power off.
I can turn TV on by booting raspPI.
But I can not boot raspPI by turning on TV.

It may be possible if your TV has a USB output, so the TV would be the power supply of your pi.

you cant power on RPi using of HDMI
but I also do not recommend feed RPi from USB port on TV or any other device. USB ports usually dont exceed 500mA what is not sufficient for RPi.
It may work may not. This is not guarantied as recommended PSU rating is 700mA at least. My recommendation is to go for at least 1000mA (1A).

BTW i do not turning of my RPi since is use less power than TV in standby mode. I have my RPi powered since March2012 24/7 Wink
