Not all video showing - toby1kenobi - 29th Mar, 2013 09:23 AM

Hi there,

Ive just installed Xbian on my Pi, it's very cool! I've got a USB hard drive hooked up, with a bunch of TV shows on (mostly backed up from DVDs, some downloaded with get_iplayer).

In library view (i.e. Home > TV Shows) although I can see several series, clicking into them episodes are only visible in one of them, the rest appear empty. However, if from there I back up until I can go into Files, and then navigate back in that way they all show and are playable.

The series that plays is DVDs ripped with Handbrake, but so are some of the ones that don't play.

What have I done wrong? Any help greatly appreciated.

Toby

I don't use XBMC very long for now, so I don't have much experience in this area.
But I think the reason that some of your episodes are not shown in the Library mode is, that the used Scaper wasn't able to identify the episode via the given filename.
You have to use a proper filename syntax so that XBMC can recognize those files.

You could write 2 or 3 filenames as an example here, so that we get a better idea of the current structure.
The user "rikardo1979" is very good in this XBMC specific area, so perhaps he will see this thread and will be able to help.

To rename all my files to a proper filename, I've used this little tool. Perhaps you will be able to solve the issue with it:

@namtih
you covered all very well, so not much more could be said Wink

Regarding to the files which not showing under TV Shows/Movies
- make sure you have each episode and folder named properly as otherwise the scraper won't see them (as namtih said)
To get the best results use this as example: Prison Break (name of the folder) / Series 1 (name of the folder for each series) / prison_break_S01E01 (name of the file for each episode)
So with this structure the scrape can easily identify all TV Shows - series/episodes

Regarding to some files won't play, this is more likely caused by file type/codec which is used and is not supported by RPi.
So the best way is to look what codec is used for files which are not playing and check with tool like Media Info what codec is used and check if this is actually supported
