Cec not allowing me to turn off Tv - evilsephiroth - 10th Jun, 2013 08:37 PM

Hi I've got a simple but tedious problem on my raspberry.

I've got Xbian alpha 5 with xbmc 12.1 and libcec 2.1.

Settings are all defaults and the CEC works out of the box.

I've got an avr connected to the xbian machine and to get it working I must switch input on the AVR...

The main problem is that the raspberry turns on the tv and avr automatically also when i power off Tv and AVR.

I've changed also flags with hdmi_ignore_cec but the only result is that the tv doesn't turn on automagically but also the CEC with my LG remote doesn't work...

You need hdmi_ignore_cec_init instead of hdmi_ignore_cec.
Now the tv wont turn on when you boot the rpi.
Xbmc can also turn on your tv when it boots. Look for that in xbmc settings, something like 'make active source on startup'

first try to update to 12.2 to see if you get better experience.if no I may have some other things for you to try

yes I was referring to that flag.

I used raspi-config to set the flag...

and I'm on 12.2 version.

Updated all last night

Also with that flag the infinite loop of turning off tv and turning on happens always

Hmm no sorry if I wasn't clear...
I'm always experiencing the same...
Enabling or deactivating the hdmi_ignore_cec flag doesn't change anything.

When I turn off the TV, if it's connected to the xbian raspberry, after 3 4 seconds,
the TV turns on...

I've changed also the flags referring to the hdmi_hotplug but with no response...

Also changing parameters in XBMC doesn't change anything in cec settings...
Finally,I updated my TV but without results...

Still struggling...

Hi Mates,

I have as similar problem. My Rasp is conencted to my TV directly, when i do a shutdown on the PI it turnsoff the TV. But when i turn the TV backup my PI stays in standby mode Sad

So i need to unplug the power of my PI en than plug it in again.

Anyone foud a similar issue and solved it?

this is not an issue, thus is normal behavior.
When you do shutdown the RPi is OFF,nothing like standby.
So the turn it back ON you have to do power cycle Wink
Anyway, whats the point to turn OFF RPi ???

Well it should not be turned off as power consumption is low, but noticed that while i was playing around so thought that there was a trick to power on.

At the end i want to hide my RPI so will be difficult to power cycle when it is turned of accidently like i did Smile

well this is the way ... you cant turn it back on by HDMI
you have two options
- get the remote controlled power outlet ( so when you shut down RPi properly it is safe to turn the power OFF and back ON)
- if you have some electronics DIY skills you can hardwire the reset switch to RPi and extend it somewhere so it would be easily accessible
