Sometimes I have similar glitches with i.MX6/Hummingboard pro while watching Live TV, but those glitches are very rare. Maybe audio buffer becomes empty and Kodi is not able to resync audio stream. You could try to optimize Kodi's video cache (see here) to see if there is any change. |

RE: Hifiberry
Tried the cache thing but didn't help. ALso tried to play around with the PPL setting (sync display) and refresh rates, but that didn't do anything either.
I might just go and get myself an hdmi splitter. I'm not sure if its a hardware or software problem anymore. any ideas are still welcome |

RE: Hifiberry
Here is a debug log.
http://pastebin.com/PhaDjje4 Its seems that whenever Terminal 09:39:27 1250.191406 T:1397748656 NOTICE: CDVDPlayerAudio::OutputPacket duplicate 3 packets of duration 32 09:39:28 1250.431519 T:1397748656 NOTICE: CDVDPlayerAudio::OutputPacket skipping a packets of duration 32 happens. it starts freaking out. Also the DVDplayer timeout happens but not always. it might happen after it cant get the audio back on sync. in this case i stopped the video as soon as it glitched out. Terminal 09:35:09 991.816528 T:1954263040 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(player)::Put MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED might be the issue as it happens on all video starts, but do not know what it means. Any help is appreciated. will search the i-net for answers on "WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(player)::Put MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED" message. Thnx in advance ALso could i try another default player? i know omxplayer doesn't support alsa but maybe something else would be utilized to test if the problem is in DVDplayer? Tried a test run with the movie Cars. Fiddling with setting concerning the synx playback. let kodi change the resolution and hz on the video so it doesn't need to convert it and put all gpu acceleration to max/unlimited. no luck yet. If i wait the glitch out it eventually stops itself and get the audio back. Code: 12:56:47 1422.798462 T:1396700080 WARNING: COMXImageFile::GetCodingType progressive images not supported by decoder Hmmmz i just watched a tv show on hifiberry without passthrough. no glitches and the log shows the same skipping packets only with 21 Code: 16:54:17 9414.638672 T:1953996800 NOTICE: DVDPlayer: Opening: /media/MediaGate/Media/Tv Shows/Castle (2009)/Season 08/Castle.2009.S08E17.SDTV-KILLERS.mkv |

RE: Hifiberry
Went out and got myself an extra rpi3 put the hifiberry on it and installed the latest osmc but problem is still there and then installed latest openelec and it was still there.
So dunno what is going on but this could be an hardware problem in my receiver or the hifiberry itself. I also could try and install an xbian 15.x version and see if it works with that. // Little update I installed the latest osmc on my rpi2 and set it up it seems to be working. Watched a whole movie without glitch. Osmc has some other configuration for the hifiberry in Co fig.txt. For starters it has dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi-overlay So on rpi2 it seems to work. Can anyone confirm that they have a stable hifiberry running with rpi3? As I could go back to the rpi3 install and see if the osmc type configuration would work on xboan with rpi3 in my case. |

RE: Hifiberry
So what's the consensus on the hifiberry working?
I thinking of getting either DAC+ Standard or Digi +. I think it will be the Digi+ as I can run an optical cable through to the AVR. Any ideas? Please read before you post How to post a log file If you liked my help, click on "Thanks" to show your appreciation.

RE: Hifiberry
@IriDium
I splashed £11.99 on ebay for a pifiberry digi and have no complaints at all. It just plugs into my pi2 and gives optical and coaxial output and I have AC3(5.1) passthrough via toslink with great quality! It even seems to work with DTS encoded audio, which I was not expecting as the receiver only has DD.... Perhaps it is transcoding on the fly, who knows? Any questions and I will answer if I can! |

RE: Hifiberry
@Skywatch Thanks, pifiberry item no longer on Ebay.
I'm currently using HDMI to the AVR but the sound is not exceptional, I'm hoping a DAC will improve the quality. Any advise welcome. Please read before you post How to post a log file If you liked my help, click on "Thanks" to show your appreciation.

RE: Hifiberry
@54
This is the best price I have seen for this board and I got mine from that seller, so you should be good to go. Remember that this one is best suited to 5.1 sound and if you are looking for stereo sound then there are better options out there. I now have 5 dacs including this one and so have some experience of different chips. |

@Nachteule
I will be happy to help if I can! I don't have bluetooth to test with (and bluetooth audio I have heard is compressed and not best quality). Adding to the gui sounds like a good way to go |

RE: Hifiberry
My soundbar has Bluetooth, I could give it a go once integrated.
@Skywatch I don't currently have surround but I will eventually, my soundbar is good but I certainly miss having 5.1. I had a Pioneer setup but the receiver gave out on me and I just didn't feel like replacing it. RE: Hifiberry
I've ordered one of the DAC's, so once I receive it I'll be able to test the package as I have a BT keyboard and audio headset (which should suffice for testing purposes).
