the xtreamer has its own AC power so it doesn't use the usb cable to get powered.

I cannot find a way to mount it.

Can you show us the output of lsusb and mount when you connect your mediatank to your ubuntu laptop?
Whaty filesystem is used on you mediatank? NTFS?
