Let's put things into perspective here.
I'm running RPi 512Mb, Xbian RC1, USB 8GB flash boot drive, 2TB WD USB HDD - I'm even on Std 700Mhz overclock. and I am not suffering from any USB problems. So lets get some details. 1) How is you HDD powered? 2) What is the output of dmesg and xbmc.log - as requested in "Please read before you post" 3) What is the output of "top" when the delay occurs? 4) What is the output of vmstat 5 10 when the delay occurs. 5) Is this just after powering up?
