Xbian RC1 in XMC has locale support for Chinese (China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan).
Can you provide a screenshot of the problem. It might be the FTP server is using a different locale to what XBMC uses. Can you access the FTP server by any other means (Windoze) and see if you get the same problem.
