i run alsa on my pi with xbian,
of course, xbmc doesn't output(yet) via alsa, but others apps can. no seen all the video, but is the module snd_bcm2835 loaded? you can check with lsmod when i see comment on youtube, module is not reloaded after a reboot. to autoload on boot, echo 'snd_bcm2835' >> /etc/modules and add xbian on group : usermod -G lp -a xbian ps :all command with sudo Belese edit : also i've installed alsa-base instead of alsa, but don't know what the difference.
