The @ symbol usually occurs on a fresh install, but quickly disappears as the splash screen takes over.
Have you made any other changes? or is it a standard install? Try: 1) Commenting out the initramfs statement in /boot/config.txt and rebooting. 2) Upgrade the system to the latest version and try again.
