FYI I have another raspberry connected to a Samsung Smart TV and it works very well. I did not need to do anything. Just added a remote.xml to add some more function on the colored buttons.

Hope I can get the same result on this older TV. I prefer to use TV remote control rather than using my iPhone that consumes battery or Web browser app.
