I like it! Simple and elegant: if not, true.

And if you can't work out why cpb is producing an error then I don't feel too bad that I can't work it out

I returned the original xbian-storager to its place, changed the $PIPECMD line adding ||: to the end, and ran "backup now" from the GUI. The file appeared on my NAS, got bigger and bigger, and....stayed! Thank you very much for all your help on this!

Now I just have to work out why I can't install xbian-update...a whole new thread!
