External HD not found?

Hi guys

Literally got my Pi today and dived right in. I put on xbian and it loaded up with no major issues. It recognised my wireless mouse great too. I connected my 1tb external HD but when I browse XBMC to find it, I cant. Theres network connections, home folder, root filesystem,upnp devices etc. But nothing saying Samsung 1TB or anything like that.

Have I missed anything here? I want to point out I'm very new to linux, beyond trying out Ubuntu for a few hours
