USB Hard Drive
Not bought a Pi yet but its next on my list along with downloading this software, am I right in thinking I could just plug in my Hard Drive and then just play the videos through the Pi? I assuming there aren't any major issues doing it that way?

Re: USB Hard Drive
This works fine, occasionally a strangely encoded file may cause problems but rarely.
If you have mpeg2 encoded video (.ts,.vob) you will need the additional mpeg2 license for the Raspberry Pi. Please read rules and do a search before you post! | FAQs | How to post log file? | Can't find an answer? Contact us. |

RE: USB Hard Drive
Thanks
I think most the files are either .mkv .mp4 & .avi I'm planning on building a FreeNAS server at some point but it's nice to know I can use what I want to for now until I get around to that, time to buy a Pi |

RE: USB Hard Drive
Make sure the Hard Drive is a powered Hard Drive if you use it in the RPi USB port. Otherwise a powered Hub will be required.
