I don't know if this is relevant, but I noticed this in the CPC catalog.

I don’t use it nor do I own one. I don’t even know if it works on Xbian, but I wonder if it could solve some of those problems for remotes, which just don’t work.

There are many who use the flirc dongle, it works fine as it really just emulates keyboard presses.
