Problem description:
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've searched extensively and can't find the solution to my issue.

The problem is that my WIFI speed is very low. I am sitting 3 meters from the router. I am only getting 100kb/s - 200 kb/s on both read and write to the SD card (I am testing speed through WinSCP). I've tried different SD card, power adapter without any luck. Also tried OpenElec but I like Xbain more (same issue).

Wired works fine with no lag.

What can I try to improve the transfer speed?

RE: WIFI slow - degraded performance
Never mind looks like I figured it out...

First rule of troubleshooting I guess, replace with known good part.

Tried another WIFI dongle and getting 1.2MB/sec now, so big improvement

I think that the WIFI dongle I was using is just crap

RE: WIFI slow - degraded performance
Glad you sorted it out yourself - yep there is some bad stuff out there. As the distance is so small, I would recommend a Ethernet connection if possible. Also, with Xbian Beta 2 I have seen no need to alter the overclock for normal usage - in fact you could reduce it to normal and I doubt there would be any issues. (Just my thoughts)
