video size wrong and editing congig.txt has no effect
Software
XBian version: 1.0B2 XBMC version: 12.2 Overclock settings: default Hardware Power supply rating: RPi model (model A/B 256mb/512mb): model A / 512 SD card size and make/type: Network (wireless or LAN): LAN Connected devices (TV, USB, network storage, etc.): connected to Dennon AVR via HDMI Logile Link to logfile(s): Config.txt http://pastebin.com/qQDYk4tu Problem description: I've read a few posts on video resolution and size issues. Most talk about settings to config.txt. I've tried adding and changing of these but they have no effect. My rpi hdmi out to AVR and AVR out to TV so the pi can't read the tv's EDID. the video is in the upper left corner, a bit off screen. it's about 1/3 the size of the screen. Changing the config.txt has no apparent effect. What should i do? Thanks in advance How to reproduce: Just turn it on |

RE: video size wrong and editing congig.txt has no effect
I have the same connection as you RPi>AVR>TV and EDID detection works just fine, it should do if the signal just passing(as it should) AVR without interfering/affecting/adjusting/changing.
But your problem looks more like this http://forum.xbian.org/thread-848.html Check it out and reply back ~~~~>>>Please always follow rules and read before you post<<<~~~~ |

My situation is a little different. The resolution and frame rate are correct in the gui. 1920x1080 @ 60. it's off screen on the top and left by a few inches and about 2/3 the size of the display. |

Try pressing the #key on UK keyboards (The one next to the return key) and see if that helps.
If not - can you post a snippet of the file so we can try and duplicate the problem. Please read before you post How to post a log file If you liked my help, click on "Thanks" to show your appreciation.

I'll look up what that translates to on my keyboard. my xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/07dC0Tuc i guess that would translate to the '#' character... lol i'm a mess |

I set "disable_overscan=1" in /boot/config.txt rebooted... no change rikardo1979, did you mean disable_overscan=1? i've played around with a number of setting in config.txt and nothing seem to effect it. |

no I mean overscan in your TV settings not RPi.but that is a small problem now, first you need to fix the resolution issue. post exact models of your TV and AVR so I can have a look for right settings for it.also have you try connect direct to TV? just to see what causing the issue, if is the TV or AVR

Oh, i'll plug it directly into the tv. see how it looks. Same problem plugged directly into the TV. Wasn't expecting that. fyi, the logo and progress bar on startup and shutdown are centered. xbians gui and the command prompt are off centered and off screen by a few inches Ok, on the TV menu > picture > aspect adjustments there is HD size 1 or 2. that changes overscan 5%. that was enough to get the top and left edges on screen. then i could see the top left overscan adj in xbian's video calabration gui. the bottom right overscan (if there is one) it underneath the box that you are suppose to adjust to perfect square, so i can't adjust bottom right overscan in the video calabration gui. |

RE: video size wrong and editing congig.txt has no effect
I got it!
in the video calabration gui I, very gingerly, fund the very edge of the bottom right over scan adj triangle. Thank you so much guys! wait, the gui is full screen but then i play a video it goes back to that smaller size when i stop the movie it goes back to the full/correct size. I tried dropping the refresh rate but it blanks and goes back to 60. I'll do some searching on this new issue |

RE: video size wrong and editing congig.txt has no effect
OK fixed that from comments here...
http://forum.xbian.org/thread-1007.html added back hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16 it's pretty slow though. not very responsive. some movies dont play. i hear the audio but the picture doesn't show up. one bluray rip i could hear but not see and it started skipping around randomly. anywho, my problem that i originally posted about is solved. Thanks so much |
