Is The New IMG Slower?
I just upgraded from the Alpha to the latest 1.1 beta. I used the img. fil & win 32 image program. I have a older 256 memory model B. It seems to me that everything is slower? Should i stay with the old img. Thanks Smuggly

I watch 1080P over Gigabit From my WHS

In system everything says up to date

RE: Is The New IMG Slower?
It shouldn't be slower, it should be faster (a lot faster).

Can you fill in the details for "Please read rules........" in my signature and explain why you think it is slower, explain where (boot, playing video's, music or just generally).

Can you also post the output from:
#egrep --color 'Mem|Cache|Swap' /proc/meminfo
#free -m
Your config.txt file from /boot
and if possible the screen shot of #top when it is running "slow"

Remember the RPi is only 10/100 so a Gigabit is throttled. Also do you have jumbo frames enabled?

Please read before you post

RE: Is The New IMG Slower?
I have the same impression.
It slower everywhere on menu, on video play etc.
I used to use xbian from begining and it always was very fast.
I install raspbmc to compore and its very very faster than xbian Sad

My config.txt:
initramfs initramfs.gz 0x00a00000
gpu_mem_512=128
gpu_mem_256=120
initial_turbo=1
disable_splash=1
arm_freq=840
core_freq=275
sdram_freq=400
over_voltage=0
emmc_pll_core=0

hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1

Top when I try to open movie:
file movie.mp4
movie.mp4: ISO Media, MPEG v4 system, version 1 size 2,61G

@maro

I don't know what release you are on, but gpu_mem_256=120 is an unusual setting!!

Looking at top shows a major wait state associated with btrfs - which is probably a temporary issue. Xbian RC2 requires a "time" to settle down.

I try to grow up free ram memory so I change memory reserved for GPU from 128 to 120 MB.
What does it mean a "time" to settle down?
Time from start xbian or time from install xbian?
