USB Audio support

I just tried OE 5 beta 1 with kernel 3.17.1.
Flies like an eagle and perfect USB audio (using squeezelite)!

Any plans for a 3.16 or 3.17 kernel for Xbian?

Up to mk to build 3.16, we're missing a couple third party patches for 3.17 as of now (also, Wolfson cards don't work).

1) Anyone tested the new Kernel with Hifiberry (not USB, but similar problem)?

2) Will there be an Xbian version with ALSA as standard instead of Pulseaudio, soon?
Here http://kodi.wiki/view/Linux_audio they write it's not recommended to have both, so there may never be a XBMC version with ALSA, at least not soon. So, is Xbian only following the Kodi-Standard, or is it a distro of it's own, with own decissions?

3) If not, is there any other XBMC distro with ALSA preinstalled available? With Rasbmc it seems to work better. I've been warned, tried Xbian nevertheless, now I'm not getting it working.

I'd really like to watch some shows and movies, soon. I've to go to some internet cafe to download huge files like images, so I need to make a decission to try Xbian testing or not.

If you want only use XBMC or the newer Kodi, you can test Openelec. The last beta has new Kodi, new Kernel (i think 3.17) and USB DACs runs without any problem. But OpenELEC is no complete Raspbian and you cant install other software like mpd. So for me OpenELEC is no solution, because i want to use mpd and XBMC or newer Kodi.

Thanks, I'm still thinking of switching to OpenELEC or Rasbmc. It's a pity that there's no program like dvdplayer for Raspian and that omxplayer doesn't support digital sound.

However, I choose Xbian cause I read something positive about it, if a Testing version may work better I still would give it a try.

Try installing xbian-package-xbmc-alsa, it'll replace xbian-package-xbmc (it's a separate package because @mk01 has noticed texture issues - if I recall correctly - but it seems that that part of the code is now merged upstream, so as of now even the "regular" package should have presented the same issues).

Thanks, I've still read about that package. But I'm using RC3, not sure if my kernel (15.8) supports Hifiberry. I think I'll need a newer version like 16 or 17.

So I would need:
- Testing or Unstable version of xbian
- xbian-package-xbmc-alsa
- other alsa stuff?

and cause I have no Internet with my xbian, I would have to download this in a Internet café and then compile it. Not sure how to do that: Just download the github repo and compile? Not sure if I'm able to do that, not sure if the needed amount of time is acceptable, not sure if it really helps.

I tried but failed. I got a conflict error, I need another version of this file:
not xbian-package-xbmc-alsa_13.2-1416247325_armhf.deb
but xbian-package-xbmc-alsa_13.2-1416075882_armhf.deb
It conflicts with my xbmc, and I can't update.

I have RC3, why doesn't it work with that?
How can I get a current version when I can't update.

I have no internet connected to my xbian, cause 3g-modems are not supported. I need something I can download in an internet café. This is why I need to know what I need to download. The newest version of xbmc, and else?
