MT7601U USB Wifi Dongle
Hello,

I've bought MT7601U USB Wifi Dongle because I thought it was just plug&play, but it isn't Angry

Could someone help me?

Code:
xbian@xbian ~ $ uname -a
Linux xbian 4.1.6+ #1 PREEMPT Sat Sep 5 17:55:31 CEST 2015 armv6l GNU/Linux
xbian@xbian ~ $ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp. MT7601U Wireless Adapter

But the system doesn't detect the wlan interface.

Thank you!!

Maybe not Dodgy

Do not have such an adapter, but maybe this driver establishes raX device instead of wlanX (the mt7610u driver does this). And we do not take care of raX devices Sad

Ah this is why google was picking up on the 'MT7601U' chipset.

Do you think this would work? This page describes how to enable support for WiFi devices based on Ralink 802.11n USB chipsets on Debian systems.

Your problem is that MT7601U requires firmware file mt7601u.bin in folder /lib/firmware

You can download file as described here or just wait about 1 hour and update your kernel to 4.9.28. This new kernel package already includes this firmware file

I'm not sure what has happen, I shutdown yesterday and turned on today with the same setup and it can't find the wifi

My router page showed it connected yesterday but no luck today. Old big dongle is working fine.

I am sure I did test the new dongle yesterday with a steam

What are a few good commands to try, my mind has gone blank. Huh
