todays 'dirty' upgrade audio stuttering in video
As per above, after todays upgrade to a version ending with 'dirty'.... Well, it certainly seems to be just that.
Whilst playing music is OK, all videos SD/HD doesn't matter have stuttering audio so bad that films and TV shows are just unwatchable. Same media viewed on laptop is perfect. So any idea what happened? Codec issue perhaps? |

@Nachteule
So a new day and a new look, still broken So here are the logs. The 'old' log shows the stuttering as a sync problem. kodi.old.log Code: 16:55:55.420 T:1848898160 NOTICE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I have tried to post the kodi.log as well, but keep running into a problem even when posting as a new reply it gets cut off due to reasons of posting limitations. |

RE: todays 'dirty' upgrade audio stuttering in video
UPDATE -
So I found that mysteriously the setting for passthrough had reverted to hdmi, so an easy one to fix that. But then the stuttering sound was still there with video content but not when playing music. I found that changing the PLL setting in system->audio from off to low seems to have solved this. I still get a buffering problem with one FHD movie, will test some more tonight as I still have lots to do this week and other video tests look promising. |

Our posts crossed, but to answer your question, no, I have no gui sound. Settings are 'play gui sounds only when playback is stopped' and 'kodi ui sounds'. I also don't get the 'blink' 'blonk' sound at start up as I do with the other pi installs, but I can live without that.
For info too, the main menu page comes up with rotating icons while it loads info from the data base, that didn't happen with Krypton. |

Hmmm, I'm not able to reproduce it, because I do not have such kind of hardware. I'm using sometimes a Hifiberry AMP+ sound card, but Passthrough is not supported there Quote:For info too, the main menu page comes up with rotating icons while it loads info from the data base, that didn't happen with Krypton. Yes, the home page got a lot of changes Btw, if you have troubles with your video library (broken handling of seen flag), you have to update to RC4, I have temporarly reverted a commit |

So time to return it to 'when playback stopped' and see how it goes. Also upgraded to RC4 and the in progress tracking is working again too.... And now I just get a buffering issue, but this time with a pop up message about source too slow. Never a dull moment in this house! Further a second buffer happened, this time with no message but the kodi start up sounds played, but the system continued to work normally, no reboot happened. Strange. |

RE: todays 'dirty' upgrade audio stuttering in video
Finally, a most unexpected bonus to this latest fun
The right rear speaker had not worked for a while now. I assumed that the old receiver amp had finally started to fail and was planning on stripping it down after the festive season. But no! - To my amazement, after todays tinkering, it is back and working as good as new. I don't even have a theory on what was going on there, but am really happy to have it all back for the holidays.... Merry Christmas and thanks for the hints! |

RE: todays 'dirty' upgrade audio stuttering in video
What do you think would be the best setting for rpi4 kodi19?
<cache> <memorysize>139460608</memorysize> <readfactor>10</readfactor> <buffermode>1</buffermode> </cache> I have a problem with log filling up with ARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: NOTICE: CVideoPlayerAudio::Process - stream stalled and video stream freezes after a while thank you |
