wireless HD x642 streaming
currently i am using this wlan adapater with xbian, but streaming x264 from my gbit network is just not fast enough to get smooth playback

Yes, For example Avatar (+- 10GB) 1080P 5.1 DTS. I have an Edimax EW-7811UN adapter. I also recommend updating XBMC because this could also make a difference: https://github.com/xbianonpi/xbmc-nightly/blob/Frodo/README.md

Are you streaming from NFS or samba? NFS is definitely faster

i added the share as upnp, no idea if thats NFS or samba

Is your router "N" compatible ? Maybe silly question but with b/g routers you will get max 2-3MB/s with N router and 150Mbps wifi dongle I get about 6MB/s and 10GB files plays fine.

its an 300mbit n router, yes
i don't know what movies you have, but i get around 12Mb/s with peaks up to 17Mb/s TX: cum: 4.75MB peak: rates: RX: 231MB 17.2Mb 14.8Mb 11.2Mb 11.3Mb i am streaming of samba on a freenas server Right now i am able to watch hd x264 movies, only occasionally i get a buffer msg no idea if thats freenas causing it, or my network or the rpi |
