Did you use xbian-config in Alpha5?

RE: Setting Up WIFI
I have Alpha5. No, i did not try that out, because i found it later on when things were already working.

Is there a big difference between the XBian GUI Config and shell xbian-config?

By the way, i like the roaming of Raspberry very much, because sometimes a carry my Raspberrys and XBians from home into my office...

Cheers
Dezi

The xbian-config inside XBMC is just a wrapper around the xbian-config-shell

RE: Setting Up WIFI
That was what i thought. So whatever is done/improved for the shell-config should also work in XBMC?

RE: Setting Up WIFI
Hello again,
Just a quick update.
I reflash a new image of Alpha 5 on my SD card.
Then plugged in my USB-N10, thru a powered USB hub.
As CurlyMo suggested, I went System --> Settings --> XBian.
I got the same problem as chucklemonkey, where I could now see my SSID but Xbmc was always bringing me back to the SSID list after I entered my credentials.
Then realized I was in STATIC mode for the IP addressing. Changed it to DHCP (as suggested by belese) and it worked perfectly !

Now I got everything working great. Thanks to all.

BTW, USB-N10 is not working if not connected thru a powered USB hub. At least, with my setup.

I'm also having issues settings up my WiFi on my RPi.
Using Alpha 5.
Using USB-N10 WiFi Adapter, thru a powered USB hub.
No special characters in the password.
SSID is not broadcasted by my router.
/etc/network/interfaces seems okay (see below).

Ethernet over eth0 is working A1, however the ultimate goal is to have this RPi working wireless.
Trying to set it up thru SSH with xbian-config but I get the message "failed to connect to..." after entering SSID / password info.

I also tried disconnecting the eth0 (thinking maybe the wlan0 cannot be mounted while the eth0 is connected) but not working either (I see that by going in the xbmc system info and no ip address).
Also thru the xbmc settings -> xbian, I see the wlan0 interface status as DORMANT.

**** Update ****
Here's the content of my /etc/network/interfaces
--
auto lo

iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet dhcp

allow-hotplug wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp

wpa-ssid "MyNetwork"
wpa-psk "MyPassword"
wireless-power on
--

Any idea where I should start my debugging?

Thanks in advance
