Xbian 1.
As you may or not know, Xbian Beta 2 is almost ready for release. (Many thanks to all involved) – you know who you are, so there is no need for an Oscar award ceremony! – unless you’re an American so “Yaaa – USA”.
The next release will be Xbian 1 (not an alpha, nor a beta) but a fully-fledged release.
It will be based on XBMC Gotham (Possibly the next XBMC release - whatever that may be – New York?
For this, we need your input.
1) Should we use a naming convention for releases – like Frodo, Gotham> If so what? I like the idea of Cartoon Dogs. (Scooby Do, Deputy Dawg, Odie and of course Gromit!
2) What should we put in it? Add-ons, new kernel releases?
It’s up to you - users of Xbian to dictate where we should go.
This is not a thread to add your complaints, nor your problems. If you do add, and they are not relevant – they will be deleted
Rantanplan ftw.
But I find cartoon dogs rather stupid. I hate the wild cats names for Apple's operating systems or the sweets names for Android versions, too.
1. What about using names of famous people like Einstein, Marie Curie, etc. Or, worlds capitals.
2. Can the final version include Tvheadend?
Great - my thread has been reduced to problem solving.

OOPs sorry
I will create another thread.
Well, start deleting then
All.
Options are.
1) Do we actually call releases under a name - personally I think we should - it's easier to say Wasp than Beta 1.2
If we do options are :
a) Cartoon dog names
b) Planets in the solar system - we could run out and Gliese 581g is not an option.
c) Star names
d) Famous women
e) World cities
f) World capitals
g) World regions
h) Nuclear elements.
i) and many more......
Send you suggestions.

i'm ok with a) … or let's say all is better than your wrong numberings like Beta1.2 usage instead of Beta2
Just to be Devils advocate here, I think it's clear which is the latest version if it is numerically incremented in some way.
if you didn't know which was the latest in xbmc, android etc, you'd have to look it up somewhere.
Skywatch
PS one feature I would like to see is a frame forward/frame backward buttons.

Just proves my point.... I would never get Scooby Doo and Gromit mixed up
Please don't flame me,
Could we name them after the development team memebers?

Who would flame you? It's a valid suggestion. It would work in the politburo and get you extra perks ( a car and privileged driving lanes). But Xbian 1 (mk01) doesn't have the right ring
Mind you.... Xbian 1 (Gromit) doesn't add much either
Keep the suggestions comming.
For obvious reasons - Bimbo and Spunky won't be used!!!! (I've done my research)
If you want a right ring, use Japanese 2nd WW battleships names.
(all sunk very fast and did practically no damage so nobody should feel insulted)
((YAMATO, MUSASHI, SHINANO))
I like Star Wars character names...Yoda, Skywalker, Vader, Kinobi...etc
I could suggest Nobel Piece Prize winners... or famous women starting from A ( Xbian 1 Marie Antoinette)
But since it's a XBMC sort of project I would deffo go with famous movies from IMDB top 250 starting at A.. that way the board could get some activity on forums/web page voting on what the name suits for 2 versions in the future (Like if you start with say A -Alien (Or maybe Avengers.. whatever) you are already working on B -Blade Runner we could vote on C (Casino, Casablanca, Cinema Paradiso etc etc).. This generates some traffic to either forum or depending on your web page solution to the web page.
