Just got a raspberry pi and xbian (1.0a4) and it's mostly good.

One problem I noticed first when I changed skin is when I tried playing videos it's like it didn't change into "Now Playing" mode and I can hear the sound, so when I enter now playing it's just black.

I changed back to the default skin and same video played fine so I didn't worry.

Later on I added a new show and while it has the art and everything fine the same happens there.

I upped gpu_mem_512 = 128 thingy ( not gpu_mem_256 as I have the new Pi (should I do both in case?)) and it still works that way.

Other problems are like tvtuner just plays sometime and even when I added a tune to the faulty series the PI crashed when it tried to play.

Also this new show and episodes do not appear in the recently added list, have no idea why.

Is this some knownbug? Also the new shows episode is DIV encoded.
Did you already upgrade to xbmc 12 final? Guide: http://forum.xbian.org/showthread.php?tid=370
If it was not included in XBian install I got last friday (1st february) then no. I'll look into it.

Could this problem possibly be because of the MPEG-2 license ( still waiting for mine) is it used in DIV encoding?

My problem is similar to this one: http://forum.xbian.org/thread-231.html
- It's not included as this is an 'testing' version
- That may be the problem.
For full disclosure, the codecs didn't change anything. I'm going to send a sample and a report if I manage when I'm back from work.

I have the same exact issue, except my container is different.
Won't play some .mkv 1080p so it seems at least 3 or 4 tittles won't play and I can hear the audio.I was running the Alpha 4 and just upgraded to the latest firmware 12 final with success and did not fix the issue. I'll look and see what kind of codec its using and report back.
Same issue here. Got my pi today. Installed the latest Xbian version and added mpeg licenties. Some MKV h.264 will not show an image and just produce sound. However, my Popcornhour can play the same file with no issues.
@Smiggel, can you also try my instructions of post #4

Im sure Koen meant http://forum.xbian.org/showthread.php?tid=370
@Koenkk & @rikardo1979 I will follow those instructions tomorrow. Too late now, have to go to work tomorrow! Will let you know if it helped! Thanks for the quick reply!
@Koenkk & @rikardo1979

I just installed the new version according to the instructions of this topic: http://forum.xbian.org/showthread.php?tid=370.

Seems it got worse. Before the file played with a black screen and sound. Now the when the file should start to play, I come back in XBMC. It does not play anything now.

File info: .mkv file: 1080, H.264, DTS, 5.1, 16:9.

Strangely enough some other files with the same specs do play.
Can you share that file (pm me a link)?
I can share the file, but will take a while. It's on my NAS and it's 9GB. I will upload it and PM the link. Can take a while, as my ADSL upload is not so fast.

Oh, yes... I checked the file with RASPBMC and RASPBMC has no issues with the same file. :-s
