I bought Pimoroni's Fan Blade to cool my Pi4 when I bought it for xbian. Their website/blog indicates they've written scripts to support their products, including this one.

I'm wondering if:
  • I need to install python to go down this road?
  • is there a better way of triggering the fan on/off at temperature points?

thank you devs/people in the know.
I think this is wrong forum
No, I meant to ask this of xbian people, @Nachteule: what's the best way to control a cooling fan for a Pi4 xbian build, so that the fan turns on when the Pi heats up, and stays on until it has reached an acceptable idle temp?
Is this beyond the scope of this forum? Sorry, I'm still very new. I know dev's are working hard, but surely I'm not the only person concerned with this.
Need to checkout below or similar solutions (was first hit me googling):

I believe above one can be controlled live as well as it running autonomous.
Code on Github etc.
right, my thought was my xbian Pi4 will probably/eventually be connected to a 4k display and running at or near similar levels, so to make it cool itself and not throttle now before it becomes necessary to be concerned about it.
kodi 19 might not be that far away, and I'd prefer to be ready for a smooth transition. (the good news, for anyone like me who accidentally upgraded to the 19 Alpha, is that Netflix works brilliantly with it NOW).
