Library export from Xbian/XBMC 1.0RC2 to Latest Xbian Kodi
Hi,

I've had a Pi B running Xbian/XBMC 1.0RC2 for years. Undisturbed and not updated (I had a bad experience updating once, and it was doing what I needed it to do so it was left alone). I've decided to replace it with a Pi 3 B+ running an up to date xbian/Kodi build and need a few pointers on my options for bringing my media library across.

I've got a lot of tv shows and films on an external usb with details scraped from the tvdb and movie db using the add-in's on the old XBMC pi and it's primarily that data that I want to get across as the tvdb has a habit of changing episode numbers around and I don't want to re-scrape them all.

I've tried a "backup /home" from xbian-config on the xbmc pi, with a restore of the .gz on the new Kodi pi, but the service is left un-startable. Not a surprise given the years between them.

I'm also vaguely aware I can do an export of the library from xbmc that will create thumbnails and xml details alongside the episodes on the external media, then presumably I could import that on the new pi.

Is there any other options I'm missing for moving the library info across? Any tips or tricks would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Hal.

That's what I would try. Exporting existing library database on your old installation and reimporting it on your new one
Maybe it works, but there is still a chance to fail due to so many XBMC/Kodi versions between.

Another possibility could be saving XBMC's profile probably /home/xbian/.xbmc and restore it on new system as /home/xbian/.kodi and see what happens. But I would assume that Kodi can't convert database because database is too old.
