If you got an error in apt-get update, just ignore it.

No, you should do
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbian-update
RE: Official XBian 1.0 Alpha 5 thread - kraleksandr - 22nd Mar, 2013 11:41 PM
@OleS
Dont do dist-upgrade ever!

@kraleksandr: Thanks, I'll keep that posted. But how am I going to keep
a sane and updated system then? Manually try to 'apt-get install' things and
look out for broken dependencies?
Cheers,
Ole

Should I just move on to 'sudo apt-get install xbian-update'?
Would like to see the update work really.
Many thanks,
Anthony

I've been trying to update, but get the no-ip error. Should I just move on to the upgrade?

What power adapter do you use (manufactorer, mA...)?
Does it successfully boot XBMC or does it crash at the startup?
Are other devices connected to the Pi?
